Sony DVP-NS710H/B 1080p Upscaling DVD Player Review
This unit runs very quietly, I cannot hear the motors whirring when it is in operation. Dead quiet. I have the audio output hooked up to my 25 year old NAD 2020 integrated amp (nearly 30 watts per channel) into my 25 year old Polk Speakers, the series 7 monitors that sold for $500 a pair back in 1986 and have a passive subwoofer, 6 and a half inch woofer and 1 inch tweeter.
The audio sound of this player is awesome, deep rich bass, smooth treble, very flat response with no midrange boosting.
I bought this player to replace my five year old JVC player, wow have they come a long way in 5 years. The picture quality is also very good, the player defaults its output video screen size for a widescreen, and as I am running it into an old cathode ray 4:3 ratio television (Toshiba flat screen) I needed to adjust the settings within the DVD player to have it size my discs properly upon playback. Like I said, this sounds better than any DVD or CD player I have ever heard. Appears to be a reliable workhorse. Good price, you get more than you pay for. Also check out my film reviews here.
