ooma Core VoIP Phone System Review

I purchased this through Amazon about a month ago and have loved the features that this provides. You have a choice to keep your landline and add an ooma number as a second line or you can switch your landline over to ooma. This takes about three weeks and I just signed up for that so we’ll see how that goes.

My favorite feature: the do not disturb- I simply hit a button and the calls automatically route into vm, if someone calls and left a vm- I see a blinking light and can then decide if I want to check my messages or now.
To turn it off, I press the same button and calls ring through.

I also love the fact that I can check my message while working on the computer – at home or at work.
It shows who calls and plays the message through the computer. The do not disturb and email capability works with both ooma and the ooma landline combination.

The main reason I got this is because I wanted to use the black list function- where I can designate who calls and who doesn’t. I also have the option to use the community black list- a very handy feature that is not available on any service I know of and what pushed me to get this is I used to pay Verizon for the anonymous call block etc- and it never applied to 800 numbers, etc.

However the one thing to note is that ooma currently offers these features on the ooma line only and not if you decided to keep your landline in addition to ooma, they state this will be available in the future but currently only works with the ooma line.

It is very easy to set up- but one thing to keep in mind- is that you have to have the phone line and the router near each other to set it up. I haven’t figured out a different way to do that- I suppose I can purchase a an adapter that turns my electrical socket into a phone line and locate that near my router as my phone line and router are far apart and I had to run a long cable to connect.

Other than that- i love it.
