DeLonghi’s Metal Nespresso Lattissima Maker, Model EN680.M, patented extraction system facilitates the ideal flow of water through the ground coffee. The machine automatically ejects the capsules into holding tank after brew is completed. Patented IFD milk system includes a milk container for cappuccino, latte or macchiato.
The milk container includes a unique automatic cleaning function with a push of a button. The entire milk container is detachable so it can easily be placed in the refridgerator. The amounts of frothed/steamed milk and coffee are adjustable to preference. Adjustable cup tray height accomodates large or small cups with easy removable drip tray insert. Illuminated controls allow the consumer to choose their favorite drink of cappuccino, latte machiato, espresso coffee, long coffee, or hot water in a simple and intuitive way. Other features include removable drip tray, self-priming operation, 19 BAR high pressure pump and removable 40 oz water tank. The welcome kit includes an espresso cup, a latte cup, a saucer and a sample pack of Nespresso capsules.

This machine makes as tasty an espresso as I have ever had, the crema produced each time is consistent and beautiful. It will knock your socks off. Using a milk steaming attachment the machine produces a great looking and tasting cappuccino and latte every time.
Some people seem to gripe about the lack of selection or having to use the “pods” but to me this is an advantage of the machine. The pods must be ordered through Nespresso’s website (wish you could buy at the stores, like Sur La Table). The selection of pods is very diverse and are very high quality, the flavors are strong and complex (folgers it aint!) The value of the pods is OK ($.50 ea) and invariably you end up ordering much more coffee than you probably need.
Cleanup is super easy (can’t say that about my other espresso machine).
You may ask why not 5 star? There is only one drawback to the machine (besides cost I suppose) and that is the ability to regulate milk temperature. My #1 complaint about the machine is that the milk is not hot enough for my liking. I read the manual and looked at the product website, but as of yet I don’t see a way to increase temperature. Generally speaking I like my lattes much hotter than I can prepare with this machine. The espressos are also not quite hot enough to my liking but they taste so good its hard to complain.
For the price I think there should have been a way to steam the milk longer. I am thinking about posting a video of this machine making an espresso because really its a beautiful, tasty espresso every time.
If the milk steaming and Lungo/Latte/Cappuccino functions are not that important and you just want the espresso I would look strongly at this model:
